Constellation7 - Bad Site

Image
http://www.constellation7.org/Constellation-Seven/Josiah/Index.htm There is so much happening here, I just don't know where to start. Constellation7.org seeks to spread its message of religion and the interconnectivity of several different topics from UFOs to salvation, music to prophecy.  The authors of this website are trying to cover a lot of ground.   I am only including this one picture...for reasons that I hope are self-evident.  As the mouse scrolls across the page, things happen like graphics and text change.  The background also changes independently and there is some sort of music and/or speaking that plays. All of the buttons have a strange color scheme.  There are buttons and graphics that cover text as well.   Everything on this page seems to be crawling on top of itself, like a swarm of brightly colored ants.

Burlington UFO - Bad Site

Image
Burlington UFO and Paranormal Research and Educational Center   I want to believe...but maybe not that bad. I am a huge proponent of a good conspiracy theory and I truly believe that there is NO WAY that the life on this beautiful blue ball we call Earth, is the only life that exists in the whole universe. So, as far as subject matter goes...yeah, this all checks out. The Burlington UFO and Paranormal Reseach and Educational Center based out of Winslow, Illinois has dedicated itself to investigating UFOs along with their pilots and several other hard to explain things. I do not feel the need to hold off on the fact that I believe that this is just bad design and well...everything.  So...Let's do this. Starting with very nebulous and dated looking photos, whom we are forced to assume are the authors of the page, but it is never explicitly stated. There is no rhyme or reason to the links that are in various sections of the above photo.  I wonder if there...

ISKA - Bad Site

Image
ISKA: International Sport Kickboxing Association Fighters, protect yourselves at all times. Wait, what website?  For those of you who are not familiar with amateur combat sports, this may be a new site for you. ISKA  is a pretty cool organization that has helped to develop some of the most formidable kickboxers and mixed martial artist today. ISKA has two main divisions: Kickboxing and MMA. This site contains rules, weight classes, past and upcoming events, videos, etc. On a personal note, I have competed in some of these events and it was a ton of fun. So, I definitely have a personal bias...That I will have ZERO problems putting aside because the website needs some help. For starters, the website is 'iskasportmma.com'. Which does not really embody the main marketing of the organization as a whole, as the name of the organization is 'International Sport Kickboxing Association'.  Which stands to reason that Kickboxing is their business.  Now, I underst...

Arge, Aren, Aren't going to come back to this page.net - Bad Site

Image
www. ARNGREN .net If you have ever needed to purchase a helicopter, motorcycle, and soccer equipment at the same time. I am not sure who this Arngren character is but I am going to assume that the face at the top left of the site is Arngren.   I can only imagine why Arngren decided to have a semi-professional sketch of their face to be the only black and white item on this site.  I am pretty sure this is exactly what happened when 6-year-old Berto's parents gave him a Sear's catalog and said: "What do you want for Christmas?".  Granted 'Batman' had a bigger representation in that letter to Santa than in this, but I think you get the point I am trying to make.   There is absolutely no order to the products on this page.  All of the links are in Technicolor. While I can clearly see that there are two separate flags at the top and can assume that there are speakers of different languages that are referring to this site.  I am not sur...

Haiti News Network - Bad Site

Image
http://anselme.homestead.com/ How does the news work exactly? The Haitian News Network provides news and information to the citizens of Haiti. While I was unable to confirm this, but apparently HNN closely partners with the local News TV station.  The HNN suffers from a couple of issues that keep it from being Bad Ass .  It appears as though everything is button operated.   All of the buttons work which is great! Having multiple buttons that take the user to the same place is not so great. Two Facebook buttons, right next to each other does not make me want to visit their Facebook page twice as much. The twitter feed does seem pretty current, as does some of the information that is coming through on the random text blocks.  I am not entirely sure where all of that information is coming from. There are multiple links that lead to other news sites or radio stations across the world. This is a bad website.

Ford - Good Site

Image
Ford.com First on race day, I don't care what anybody else says. Ford, focusing on automobiles since the very first mass-produced automobile was released, the Model T. Ironically, the Model T was created and produced by Henry Ford who founded and ran the very same Ford Motor Company that exists today.  While there have been many improvements to the automobile since Henry's time,  Ford Motors being responsible for many of them, the company remains intact and progressing.  Ford Motors has been synonymous with Americana for the last 100 years. In addition to producing the Ford Mustang, my favorite car of all time, Ford's website is Bad Ass because: Single push-button access to find one or multiple products.  Every link functions. Every photo is linked to more content about the photo's subject matter. Functional and ever-present menu, navigation bar.   Organized content, that is appropriate to what is being discussed in the respective page. ...

Magic Leap - Good Site

Image
MagicLeap.com Sometimes I can't tell if I am dreaming or awake. Magic Leap is a local South Florida company that has some very interesting products.  It is a titan in virtual reality/augmented reality space, having coined the term 'mixed reality' to describe what it produces.  Magic Leap has created some of the leading hardware to support VR/AR/MR technology.  Having created some of the technology that furthered the 'state of the art', Magic Leap's website does flex some of the muscle that it possesses. Things that make Magic Leap's website Bad Ass: Seamless transition between embedded videos and static photos. Simple intuitive options throughout the site. The ability to learn more about everything that is advertised or highlighted. Spotlighting media and release information easily and all together in one place.  Allowing for easy to purchase equipment or services at any time.

Jet Blue - Good Site

Image
www.jetblue.com Where ever you go, there you are. Jet Blue is an airline that has grown in popularity over the past 15 years or so.  Focusing on adding fun to travel, Jet Blue differentiates itself by infusing personality into the operations.  From flight staff singing the safety instructions to playing trivia games with passengers before boarding they have grown their market share substantially during their relatively short tenure.   Jet Blue's website is Bad Ass because: Simple booking and navigation that is seamlessly integrated into every screen. Finding a flight is made simple, not forcing multiple questions upfront. Providing relevant links to flight-related products are presented as options, not forced on the user via pop-ups. Clear and relevant photos that encourage exploration of flight or vacation options.

iPhone - Good Site

Image
Apple iPhone Yes, it also makes phone calls but that feature is extra. Apple, a company doesn't need an introduction. Having been an innovator and setting standards for the past decade Apple has been at the forefront of many technological advances.  Introducing the world to the Apple IIe in 1983, which became the absolute top choice for public schools and a nostalgic staple for anybody that grew up during the 1980s.  As well as cultivating a fierce loyalty amongst its patrons, the iPhone is no exception. Since the initial release of the iPhone in 2007, the iPhone has been a popular choice by the general public.  Due in large part to the intuitive options and simple controls, these two principles are echoed through most of Apple's constructs and can be seen just as clearly in its website.   Even though I loathe iPhones, despite owning one, the Apple iPhone web site it Bad Ass because: A very functional and easy to use navigation bar that also allows f...

Keep your hands up - Good Site

Image
https://www.hayabusafight.com/   Just because we fight it does not mean we are savages. Hayabusa provides equipment for combat sports and enthusiasts. From traditional martial arts to mixed martial arts gear and anything that is involved in the sports or training of the sport.  Gloves, safety equipment, uniforms, shorts and more all with great quality and in many cases solid styling options.  On a personal note, this is the only equipment I use when kickboxing.   Things that make this a Bad Ass site: Simple to navigate. Not too many choices, but all of the important possibilities are covered and are easy to find.  Clear and current content, the landing page mentions a 'Back to School' sale. (It is worth mentioning that at the time of this posting, the school year is about to begin) Simple photos that clearly showcase the products offered.  Relevant quotes from sources that relate to the content and subject matter.
